THE MOVE

Well, it has been a stress filled couple of weeks leading up to this trip. Jennifer and I found out that I was getting transferred to Portland, OR. the Friday before Christmas. I was suppose to report to my new job on Feb. 6th but we decided to be in Portland on Jan 30th. After attending annual meeting for 3 days, flying out to find a place, and still continuing to work in Denver, we had little time to get excited about this adventure. My Dad had come out for Christmas and said we should swing down to Southern California and we could go to Disneyland. We had already thought about going South to pick up Jennifers brother Tad, and to see her Granny. The plans were starting to fall into place.

Finally, Monday, Jan. 23rd arrived. The packers from Bekins showed up, then the 24th the moving truck showed up.

Tuesday night we went to Evergreen and stayed with my Mom. Wednesday morning we were

off for the 995 mile drive to my Dads place in Azusa, CA. We made it there by 7 pm and were looking forward to the nights rest. Thursday morning we awoke and made our

way to Disneyland. What a day. It was 60* and no lines. The longest we had to wait was 10 minutes. It was perfect. We got to ride all the good ones and even got in a couple new ones. Jennifer got here fritter and Quentin got his cotton candy. I got

to spend a enjoyable day with my family and dad. With Quentin navigating, we got on 15 rides and then we were so wiped out, we called it a day.
We said our goodbyes to my dad and headed to Ventura, CA. to see Brandon and Vanessa

(Jennifers brother and sister in-law). We had dinner, picked up Tad and headed to Morro Bay, CA. to stay at grannies house.
Friday morning we awoke late and just spent the day wandering around and enjoying

the ocean. Saturday morning we went to see Lynn and Keith's Tug boat in the Harbor (Jennifer's Aunt and Uncle). While their, Keith suggested we go out for a spin around the harbor. We were all game. We got outside the harbor and were motoring

around for awhile. On the way back in, a school of Pilot Whales were spotted. Keith turned us around so we could get a better look. WOW, what an experience.

After we returned from the trip, we headed back and packed up the car. We drove to Sacramento, CA. and stayed the night there. Sunday we headed all the way to

Portland, OR. This leg of the trip was filled with truck drivers that didn't know how to drive. On numerous occasions we got caught behind trucks passing three wide.

After all that we rolled into Portland around 7:30 pm and it was over. 2250 miles in 5 days plus Disneyland and a Whale sighting trip. An epic trip that holds up to the "Ron Hallquist" sight seeing trips of the past.

The new house is good and the door is always open for everyone. The first thing to get set up, the basketball hoop.....
